Dog Pool Ramps - Protect Your Pool and Make it Easier for Your Dog

Picture
Having a backyard pool can be fun for the whole family including your dogs.  But they have nails and can cause damage when they try to scramble out of the pool.  As they get older even this part of the pool fun can get difficult.  Once they get used to this dog ramp they will enjoy hanging out with you for your summer fun.

As our furry friends age, we don't always notice.  The changes can be very subtle at first.  Maybe they just lay on the pool deck watching you play and barking or looking depressed.  You invite them in, but they seem scared.  This is common when they get older as their muscles may weaken and they find it difficult getting in and out of the pool.

By installing a dog pool ramp, they have something to help them in and out and before long they are back in the water having fun.   I have found that online has some of the best products to help with your aging dog.

Both of the above products can really help your dog out of the pool.  Most can doing a flying jump in, it was always the exit that caused angst, panic and damage to the pool and themselves.  The first one is a ramp with perforations so that they can get a grip to get out of the pool.  It can then be simply removed when not in use.

The second one is a set of angled floating steps to help your pooch out of the pool.

You could combine different products, such as the first dog is wearing a life vest as well as using the dog pool ramp.  Older dogs don't have to sit on the side lines.  As I discovered, there are tons of senior dog aids on the market that can really help your older dog enjoy the golden years.

Having a dog ramp in the pool can also work for a quick escape if he falls in when you are not there to help him.

There are so many ways to enjoy your pooch into the golden years.  You know your dog better than anyone, decide which aids are most needed and then enjoy life.  If he loves car rides, get a portable ramp to protect your back and let him walk on board.  If he has a problem with stairs, and simply won't go upstairs at night with you and is now sad, try a mobility harness.  There are so many ways to keep the life in your older dog.  Watch him close and see if there are changes in activities he used to love and get creative to remedy it so he can be happy!
