Swimming Pool Floats for Dogs and Dog Life Jackets
If you have a backyard pool and have always enjoyed your dogs company, then letting him swim in the pool with the family can be lots of fun.
But as dogs age, they tire easily in the water and may want out of the pool more than in. But if you can offer them ways to rest while enjoying the coolness and family time, then you can spend more time with your pooch and he won't panic the same to get out.
You can get dog pool floats that are basically the same as the loungers us humans love to float around on, but they are specific for dogs that enjoy the pool made with pet friendly fabric. Once you can get them onto one of these loungers, you will be surprised at how quickly they adapt.
Keep one in the pool ready for your dog, but also keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he is not tiring out, especially if your pool is deep water, they can run into trouble quickly as they chase the kids and swim hard. Enjoying the coolness is good for them, but over exertion is not. Check out these floats below.
If you enjoy having your furry friend lounging beside you in the pool or on the deck, these floats are affordable, pet friendly fabrics and portable. But not all dogs like the idea of simply lounging around on a pool float. Many older dogs still love the idea of swimming at full tilt, but as they get older they will tire quickly and could run into trouble in the pool.
If you love the idea of keeping your pooch cool by letting him into the backyard swimming pool with you, but a lounger is not his style, then consider getting him a dog life jacket.
Not only will these keep him safe out on a lake or boat, but they will keep him safe in the pool too. If he tires he can still float. Just like you make sure your kids are safe, do the same for your pets. They will run headlong into the pool and forget they are older. Pools are a great way to cool down for the entire family including your dog, just invest in a few aids to make these senior years enjoyable to you both.
There are so many ways to enjoy pool or lake time with your family that can include your pets. Dogs love to be with you, and if you notice they are not doing as many family activities as before, really try to understand them. If they can't swim as far, they may become more timid to get in the pool, in which case get them used to a dog life vest or jacket. Take them in the pool with you, and when the realize they don't have to work as hard to stay above water, they may play in the pool more often. If you fear them falling in the pool if they are deck side, you should still get them a life jacket as it can be hard to rescue a panicking dog.
If they still love to be by the pool but tend to lay and watch you play, get them a dog pool float and see if they would enjoy floating around the pool instead of watching from the side lines..
Keeping Dogs Cool
This is the main issue in the summer, and there are different ways to keep them comfortable especially your aging dog. Get them their very own dog pool, or a cooling mat, or aids for your backyard pool.
As you dog ages, you know him better than anyone, so try to notice when he backs off activities and see if there is another way. As my dog Sasha ages, I have been doing a lot of research on ways for them to enjoy activities but with aids and I didn't realize just how many affordable products are online compared to my local store.
