Dog Cooling Bandana

This is a really quick way to cool your dog in the heat of summer, a cooling bandana.

Just soak it in water and place around your dog's neck to help protect them from heat stroke.  The special material helps to wick away heat with evaporation.  If your dog feels the effects of the summer heat, consider investing in a few of these to have on hand.  They are perfect for all sized dogs, and I have seen quite a few being worn around my neighbourhood.

If your dog runs into signs of heat stroke, quickly find shade and water.  If you can let him lay in a creek or river, if not try and place wet towels under his armpits, this will help to reduce his core temperature quickly.  Placing cool wet towels around his neck will help too.

If you are planning a long walk or hike, consider using a cooling vest or at least one of these dog bandanas, and carry a dog water bottle with you as well as enough water for yourself.

My dog became ill very quickly in the heat, and at 65 pounds I was not able to carry her back, I had to let her rest and cool down first.  So it pays to be proactive when it comes to your pets in the heat of summer, but especially an older dog, they can feel that heat fatigue quickly.  Keep your dogs safe in the summer, don't let them get over heated, and invest in a few cooling aids to help them enjoy the summer time with you.
